In 2005, professional opera singers, Chris and Sasha Holloway, founded the performing arts company “Opera Leggera” (light opera) in Kingwood, Texas. Chris and Sasha’s musical knowledge and talents have helped them present beautiful, theatrical music concerts that include opera, broadway, pop, operetta, and jazz to the wide array of audiences in North Houston. Opera Leggera’s goal is to bring integrity and excellence to the concert stage in both performance and presentation, while preserving cultural values.
Chris Holloway- General Director of Opera Leggera. A Native Texan Tenor is known as the ”Pavarotti of Sacred Music. Chris has performed in opera, oratorio and recital both in the United States and abroad. He has appeared as tenor soloist with the Los Angeles Philharmonic Orchestra, The Liverpool Orchestra, the Birmingham Symphony Orchestra under the direction of Simon Rattle and Israeli Philharmonic Orchestra with Zubin Metha and Daniel Barenboim just to name a few. While in Israel most recently Mr. Holloway sang the title role in the Israeli Opera's production of King David, hallmarking the Jerusalem festival which celebrates the city as the capital of Israel. Mr. Holloway has performed operatic roles with International companies such as the Cardiff Opera in Wales, the Houston Grand Opera, Israeli National Opera, the Bregenz Opera Festival and the English National Opera; his most recent roles include: Alfredo in Verdi's La Traviata,Lensky in Tchaikovsky's Eugene Onegin, and Ernesto in Donizetti's Don Pasquale. A recent opera recording on the Albany label features Mr. Holloway singing the roles of Patinkin and Kriltsov in Tod Machover's world premiere Resurrection and his newly released solo CD “My Deepest Devotion” has received special acclaim from the NRB and can be heard on numerous radio stations in the US. Chris is also committed to use his musical gift to minister God’s love. Mr. Holloway has appeared on national broadcasts of ABC, TBN, CBN, and PBS.
Sasha Holloway- Artistic Director of Opera Leggera. Sasha was born in Odessa (Ukraine). She has performed with numerous opera and musical theatre companies around the world such as Odessa State Opera Theatre (Ukraine), New Israeli Opera, Florida Grand Opera, Houston Grand Opera, Theatre Under the Stars (Houston), Israeli Philharmonic (under maestro Zubin Metha), Opera in the Heights, and West Palm Beach Opera. She has sung more than hundred different productions. Her roles included (Carmen and Mercedes) in Carmen, (Olga) in Eugene Onegin, (Prince Fiodor) in Boris Gudonov and many others. Sasha and her husband, Chris Holloway, sing in concerts in the US and abroad. In 2005, supported by Insperity and the Nathaniel Foundation, Sasha and Chris formed Opera Leggera in Kingwood, TX.
